Do you need a laugh today? I do. And my kids usually have a ready supply.
Let me start by saying how interesting it is to raise kids in the age of the internet. Trying to convince my almost 5 year old that we did not have a computer in our house growing up was only slightly easier than trying to get her to believe that Pop Pop (my dad) didn’t even own a television as a kid. She knows how to work an i phone better than I do and she has her own email address.
This was a conversation we had just a couple weeks ago:
Piper: Mommy, can you write “ariel.com”?
Me: What? Why would I want to write that?
Piper: You know, on the computer! Like “pbskids” only “ariel.com”. Maybe there’s fun stuff there!
Me: Ummm, well, Piper, that might not be an…appropriate website.
Piper: Huh?
Me: Well, not everything on the internet is nice. Some of the things are not nice and they aren’t things we would want to see or do.
(long pause)
Piper: Oh, yeah, you’re right. Ursula might be there.
Me: Exactly, honey. Exactly.
You’ve gotta love technology.
(By the way, in case you’re wondering, “ariel.com” seems to be under construction. No evidence of Ursula at this time.)

This is a really cute post. You have to love 5 year olds! I use to teach preK to second grade and I just love that age range because they always make me laugh.
I absolutely love this post! Only a princess would have thought of that site.
Haha! Beautiful! My 3 1/2 yr old loves her daddy’s iPhone and it is so strange to me to see her and her almost-3-yr-old cousin using the touchscreen to play matching games… they’re little pros and it’s “normal” for them. Funny and a little weird for me! Thanks for the laugh.
Oh, that made me lol!!! Thanks for the humor! Gotta watch out for that Ursula!!!
Ah, you have a smart little one on your hands!
My son went through a phase where he wanted to look up random words dot com. He wanted circles.com, wrestling.com, brothers.com, cat.com, etc. It was cute … at first.
Hysterical… I grew up without a tv, my kids only watch tv with their dad… but they are all completely computer literate… they are born “in the know”… Have a fun day!!!
They live in a new world. Excellent show on Frontline last night about Technology. The verdict is still out! But I know both my kids enjoy being “plugged in”. My littlest one loved the internet!
Boy isn’t that the truth! And how funny. I love the way little kids think… before their minds get corrupted by things like tv and the internet.
